Hi Nathan,

that's the Fletcher–Munson curve. On high volume you can hear the highs and bass better than on low volume.
That's the reason for the loudness-correction on Hifi-Amps.

as already said to John I would never buy individual stomp boxes. But that's my opinion and perhaps not the best advice for you. You should get a GT-8 or GT-10.
The latest digital effect device is always a "bit better" than it's predecessor. This means that a GT-8 may be sufficiant for you because the GT-10 is only a bit better but much more expensive than a GT-8.
And yes, you can get every sound out of it.

Question

Should I get the boss gt-6, gt-8, gt-10, or individual stomp boxes. I dont have a very good amp but I do have very nice large speakers. I would really like to be able to have every effect and sound. Could the boss gt-10 do that.

first you should try the 4 cable method, because then you can use compressor, wah and overdrive in front of your preamp and modulation, delay and reverb behind it.
If you don't need the Boss GT preamps then take a look at the Line 6 M13. It might be a better buy then several stomp boxes. I don't like using a lot of stomp boxes on a pedal board because they will ruin your sound, too. And you need to dance on them.

Hi,
JOhn here. I have been searching for an I think you answered my question. I own a VHT Sig X. It's a super sweet, high quality, high gain botique amp. I was worried about putting a Boss gt-10 in front of it. Am I just ruining the sound of my killer amp with this thing. It sounds crapy out front and I didn't know how to run it through the FX sends. Now I see this 4 cable hook up and read that it kinda sucks compared to the quality I already have. Do you think I should just take it back and go buy a looper and a few stomp boxes instead? Thanks for your help. JOhn
